The Skynet is the Limit

I will be the first to admit it: I am a slave to technology. My job requires it so I really have no choice. There are times when I think I might be too technology dependant. I have given up on using pens and paper. My black Uniball Vision and Moleskin notebook rarely come out of my backpack. All thoughts, lists and ideas are stored in the Notes Application (41 and counting) on my iPhone and as Stickies (26) on my MacBook. If this continues, I will be completely paper independent. Then, I’ll lose the ability to write all together. And finally, I may forget how to hold a pen.
I never really appreciated the whole Terminator theory until now. As I gain more experience in my technology coordinator/computer teacher position, I have realized how dependent on technology the world has become. Slowly and surely the ushering in of the Terminator era is at hand.
There is no turning back now. What seemed like mere fiction might be closer to reality then we think. If you do not believe me, follow this movie trail to see just how the story ends.

It all started with those darn videogames (TRON) and look where it ended: machines taking over the world and forcing us underground (Matrix Revolutions). Currently we are only at the Lawnmower Man stage making great strides to reach that Eagle Eye-Bicentennial level. All it is going to take is the invasion of a few Autobots to give us the technology to advance further.
Until then, we still have time to make the necessary preparations to salvage as much of our humanity as possible before the machine make us their tools.

I tip my hat to Brazil. They deserve to be the first South American city to host the games and that is what this is about: who deserved it. In my opinion, Chicago did not. Every site has their own issues and I can only speak for the city I live in. When young black males (and females) continue to fall in a city where the first black male president calls home, this is not a city that needs to host the world. People who took off work to gather at Daley Plaza and show their support for the bid either do not know, do not care or think the Olympics Games are going to instantly clear up Chicago’s mess. I can only speak for myself when I ask the question: In the aftermath of this disaster, what is my role/responsibility? Looking around this social network that is life, I see four groups I could join. Friday, December 11th now holds greater significance to me. For as long as I can remember, I have considered my mother a princess and once the release date was set I knew I wanted to take her to see it. So, my mother, father, brother, my girlfriend and my cousin and her boyfriend went to see The Princess and the Frog the Saturday after my mother’s Friday, December 11th birthday. I have been to a few opening weekend movies in my day, but never have I been given a survey to fill out as I walked in the theater. Still slightly bitter that Tiana did not have a black prince, I asked the people handing out the surveys, “Is there a question on here where I can respond as to why Disney decided to leave out the black prince?” To this I got puzzled looks from the survey employees whose job probably did not entail answering ridiculous questions from bitter moviegoers.
